Our methodology

Clear evidence. Careful claims. Verifiable outcomes.

Privacy tools should distinguish what they found, what they inferred, what they submitted, and what they actually verified. This page explains how Less Visible makes those distinctions.

The process

From search to verified outcome

01

Search supported public sources

Less Visible checks supported data-broker and people-search websites using the identity details you provide. Results reflect what those sources return at the time of the scan.

02

Separate evidence from possibility

A name or location match is treated as a possible listing, not proof that the record belongs to you. You confirm or reject uncertain matches before a removal is treated as yours.

03

Choose the appropriate response

Where a broker supports a reliable submission path, Less Visible can help initiate the request. Some brokers require you to complete an email, identity, CAPTCHA, or account-verification step.

04

Track and recheck

Submitted requests are tracked and supported sources can be checked again. A removal is not presented as verified merely because a form was submitted.

Result language

What each status actually means

Possible match
The source returned information that may relate to you, but the identity has not been confirmed.
Information found
A scan identified personal-information fields in a returned listing. It does not prove every field is current or accurate.
Removal submitted
A request was sent or initiated. This is not the same as confirmed removal.
Needs your action
The broker requires a step Less Visible cannot safely complete for you, such as inbox, CAPTCHA, or identity verification.
Verified removed
A later supported check found evidence that the previously identified listing is no longer available.
No matching record found
The latest supported check did not identify a matching listing. It is not a guarantee that no record exists.

Important limitations

What Less Visible cannot promise

  • Less Visible does not search every database, private dataset, social network, or part of the internet.
  • A clean result does not prove that information is absent from every source.
  • Public listings can be outdated, belong to someone with a similar name, or reappear after removal.
  • Known-breach data can identify exposed data categories without revealing the exact password or record involved.
  • Broker response times and verification requirements are controlled by the broker and can change.

Accountability

Questions or corrections are welcome.

Less Visible maintains its public broker directory and updates instructions when a process changes or a link is no longer reliable. If you find an outdated instruction, tell us which page and what changed.
